prayers to the wind

Prayer flags big, small and of different hues welcome you to the beautiful Land of the Thunder Dragon.
The winds of the valley, they believe, would carry the mantras scribbled on these flags to the heaven.
Always chanting the divine mantras, the flags flutter up above the valleys and across the rivers.

Interestingly, the ritual has a flip side too. unscrupulous felling of pine trees for the flag posts. Hence, the government has stepped in with norms of scientific felling to cut down the rate of deforestation.
